Foundation Plates
This project is an example of the expansion plates I designed and used in renovating my home. As the foundation crumbled I needed a solution to replace the sections of concrete a piece at a time.
Not liking any of the available options I created these expanding plates. Though most plates were large, reinforced with rebar and cast in concrete, smaller versions like the image shown were used for wooden support beams. Each plate I cut and numbered for its placement. Adjustments were crucial when used in a series as walls and floors settled. Of the solutions available, this was the simplest and most cost effective. It was the first time a design I created saw real use.
